February 2012

God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Rom 5:5

From Pastor Bill: In a store the other day, I saw that Valentine’s Day gifts were 25% off a week before Valentine’s Day. We know it will be 75% off the day after, but a week before?!!! Love only pays one day a year? Why do we buy flowers when we are in trouble or when someone dies? Are we not too late then? Is love to be practiced only when it is needed or convenient? That’s the world’s theology and that’s why there are murders, divorce, and all the sins of the world. God so LOVED the world (John 3:16) before it was bad as much as after. God is love, so if we walk in God, we walk in love – 24/7 not just once a year. This love is the greater love. It is not a cheap, discount love. Does the love of God in us go on sale on Monday or Friday or does it hold its value year around? We serve the greater One. We need to share the greater love. Love one another – all the time.

In Him, Pastor Bill

From Pastor Pam: “My lips will praise You because Your mercy is better than life itself. So I will thank You as long as I live. I will lift my hands to pray in Your Name.” (Psalms 63:3-4) In this passage of scripture, David’s heart of love for God is overwhelming and powerful. David’s love for God overrides everything else in his life. David meditated on God’s love and mercy for him and realized it was better than life itself. What would our life be without God? It would be too devastating to even think about it. David was eternally grateful for God’s love and mercy, so he rejoiced in praising, singing, and dancing. Realize how much strength and comfort we receive from God. Realize that hope is eternal with God and nothing has to stay the same. God is truly the One and only One who makes life worth living. God’s love for us is endless. Rejoice and be at peace in it.

In Him, Pastor Pam

CHILDREN’S CHURCH NEWS

The kids in Children’s Church are studying the apostles and the church in Acts. They learned about how the church started on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit filled the people who waited on Jesus’ promise. They heard how the church grew by 3,000 in one week. God used Peter and John to heal a lame man while going to pray. They just shared what they had – the power of God. They learned how Paul changed from a hater of Christians to being one of the most powerful carriers of the good news of Jesus. We pray that as the kids hear these stories, they will realize that God wants the church to do the same things today. The apostles were no different from you or me. God expects the church to operate in signs and wonders and point others to the Lord. He works with us to show the world His love and power. There will be a meeting on Sunday, February 12, after the morning service for all those who would like to work with the 5-12 year-olds in Children’s Church. The Toddlers are doing great and learning about God on their level. If you would like to work with the toddlers, there will be a meeting after the morning service on February 19. We would love to have you!

YOUTH GROUP NEWS

The Youth are having great meetings. They have been studying about choices and love. They are continuing to raise money for Yuridia Lucindia, their Compassion Child in Guatemala. They are supplying $38 for her each month to help with her schooling and support at home. The Youth will be going to the Third Day Concert on March 15. Congratulations to Katie for doing so well at her swim meets. Come join them for their meetings at 6:00 on Sunday nights.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST

“Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality. . .” (I Peter 4:12 AMP) When Peter wrote this, Christians were undergoing intense persecution. The strong believers held onto their faith and made it through. We may not face persecution as they did, but each trial we face is a test of how we will react to the situation. We will keep our godly character and let it develop, or will we “lose it” and explode everywhere? Will people see a strong, determined faith or someone who crumbles at the slightest problem? People, God, and satan are watching to see how we do in each “test”. This was the case with Job. Satan was counting on Job to give up his faith in God. God believed that Job would still follow Him no matter what happened. Job struggled and questioned, but he never quit believing God. God was pleased with Job’s faith. Just as tests in school determine how much you really know, the tests we face show our quality. You will never really know what you are made of until you are tested. David would have never known that he could kill Goliath until they met in battle. Joshua would not have conquered Jericho until he obeyed God and marched around the city. Don’t be afraid of the battles in life; God said they would come. (James 1:2-4) He promised He would be with us through all the struggles. Keep your trust in Him and you will overcome. (I John 4:4) Each day is a test of whether we trust the Lord or not. Don’t let your faith fail. Hold onto it and remember: THIS IS ONLY A TEST.

IN THE NEWS

ü Pastor Bill will begin a series on Thursday nights about the beginning of the Church. He began to teach this topic at the Tuesday night classes at Faith Fellowship Teaching Center. We will learn about the connection with Israel and our shared history. The first lesson will be on Abraham, the father of our faith and the Jews. Come and learn about how the church fits in with history so we can understand its place today. Bring your notebook!

ü If you missed our guest speaker, Randy Marple, you can pick up a CD in the tape ministry or watch the broadcast on the internet. He spoke last month on the America’s place in the end times. We need to pray for America and the upcoming elections.

ü Pray for the Internet Ministry. It is reaching many areas. We have those who watch the services regularly. If you would like to help in this area or with the sound, see Pastor Bill. Invite your friends and relatives to church with you by telling them to watch the services at www.marinelliministries.com.

ü You can call the Prayer Line 24 hours-a-day at 740-676-1500. You can also email your requests to us at marinelliministries@yahoo.com. We pray over them at each service and during the week. Please share your answers so we can praise God with you.

ü Covenant Hands Ministry is here to help our church family with food and non-perishable items. If you would like to donate non-perishable food, soaps, and paper items, bring them in on the first Sunday of each month. See Pastor Pam if you or anyone you know needs any items.

ü Stop by the Tape Ministry! We have books, CD’s and T-shirts available! Pick up any of the services on CD! There are many new T-shirts designs available. If you don’t see your size, just let us know and we can get it for you.

ISRAEL TRIP

Here is the chance of a lifetime – a nine-day trip to Israel! You will visit the places where Jesus walked and the stories of the Bible took place. Jerusalem Tours International in Columbus, OH, will be making all the arrangements for a trip to the Holy Land from November 8-17, 2012. If you would like more information, pick up an itinerary and registration form from Pastor. If you will be making the trip, you need to send in the $300 deposit, $270 if you opt for the travel insurance (recommended), and the completed registration form to Jerusalem Tours. This will reserve your place. There are only 25 openings available for us on this tour. If you have already sent your registration form in, let Pastor Bill know. You will also need a passport. If you do not have one, you need to start the application process as soon as possible. If you need help with this, you can see Pastor Bill or go to the State Department’s website under “passports”. You will spend the first night in Israel in Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean Sea. The next two days will be in Galilee. You will visit Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, Nazareth, and Cana. Jesus spent most of His ministry and performed many miracles here. Next, we will travel to the Dead Sea and visit Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and see Masada. The tour will visit a Bedouin camp. We will spend the next three days in Jerusalem. We celebrate communion at the Garden Tomb and visit the Wailing Wall. We will walk through the Garden of Gethsemane and the Via Dolorosa. We will visit Yad Vashem, which is Israel’s Holocaust Memorial and the Israel Museum. It will be an awesome trip. Start praying about it!
