FEBRUARY 2010
From Pastor Bill: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. " John 3:16
"I love you!" How much will we hear that phrase this month? But why just this month? How much of it is real and how much will be 50% off on February 15th? We know God loves us. He sent His Son to prove it. Once Jesus stopped everything to ask Peter, "Do you love Me?" How much love do we give back? It must have been important enough for Jesus to ask and for Him to want to know Peter's answer. We are to love others like God loves us. He tells us everyday in every way how great His love is for us. Maybe it's important that we say it to others around us. I have found that kids crave it and the elderly need it. Love covers a multitude of sin in us all. When the ones we love are gone, I have heard many people regret what they didn't say more than what they did say. So let's tell the people we love, "I love you," before they have to ask. It will bless them and remind you. With all His love, I love you, Pastor Bill
From Pastor Pam: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God (Who is the Source)
of every comfort (consolation and encouragement), Who comforts us in every
trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort those
who are in any kind of trouble and distress, with the comfort with which we
ourselves are comforted by God."
II Corinthians 1:3-4 (AMP) God
is our source of comfort, joy, and peace.
There is a saying: Life isn't
about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the
rain. (Author unknown) The storms of life are going to come our
way, but when we are truly trusting God, we will weather through them. Just like storms in the natural, we find a
safe place to go until the storm is over.
The storms do come to an end.
God is our safe place. In
Hebrews 4:15-16, it says, "For we do not have a High Priest who is unable
to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and
infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been
tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Let us then fearlessly, confidently, and
boldly draw near to the throne of grace (God's unmerited favor to us
sinners), that we may receive mercy (for our failures) and find grace to help
in good time for every need [appropriate and well-timed help, coming just when
we need it]." God knows what we
are going through and what battles we are facing. We must run to Him and not away from Him in these times. God is waiting for us to reach out to Him
for comfort, support, guidance, and love.
He is our safe place. In His
peace, Pastor Pam
CHILDREN'S CHURCH NEWS
This month we are teaching the children that that kingdom requires repentance. They will learn what repentance is and how it is different from asking for forgiveness. During the month, they will learn that they will be rewarded by our Father in heaven for their love, loyalty, and faithful hearts. They will discover the wonderful place Jesus is preparing for us and how to get there. At the end, they will be able to tell you His message of forgiveness and repentance. "From that time on Jesus began to preach, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near'." (Matthew 4:17) We will be having a "Fun Night" of snacks and a movie with the date and time to be announced soon. Anyone who would like to come down and visit us during our class is more than welcome. Our children are such a blessing and joy to teach. God bless you and hope to see you downstairs! Love and prayers, Miss Stefanie
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
The Word of God has been very powerful in the last several weeks. The teens have been absorbing studies on things such as God's presence, surrendering their hearts before Him, and finding their secret place to worship and spend time with Him. The youth is looking forward to going to Winter Jam on February 5. Three adults and 12 youth will attend the concert and event in Columbus. So exciting! We are also still looking for supporters to sponsor them for the Walk-A-Thon taking place at the Ohio Valley Mall on Feb. 13th. The day will be filled with Christian music and activities and is being coordinated through East Richland Christian Schools. The Faith Walk begins at 9:00 a.m. and follows with all-day entertainment in the Levin Furniture concourse. Our youth are looking for someone to sponsor them individually which not only raises money for the Christian school, but also raises funds for the kids to put towards their summer camp fees. If you get a chance, come participate in the Faith Walk at the Ohio Valley Mall on Saturday, Feb. 13th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please help sponsor a youth to walk to raise funds. We are asking for prayer regarding our youth to have a deeper relationship with God and making an impact in our world for Christ. Also, keep in prayer our Camp Impact 2010 summer youth camp which has been set for June 21-25. In Christ, Bill & Beth
NEW POSITIONS
The new workers have signed on for 2010 at Faith Fellowship. This is the year where the church will arise and do its part to bring the kingdom of God to earth. God is directing each person in His Body so that they will fulfill His will on earth. Keep listening to the Lord as we work in partnership with His Spirit. Share with Pastor any ideas you may have to make things better. We will be doing some cleaning and organizing around the building and in the different departments. See Pastor if you would like to help. If you did not fill out a new application, see Elaine.
IN
THE NEWS
· Covenant Hands Ministry has food for those in our church family who need a little help to make ends meet. You can bring in canned food, non-perishables, and soap products on the first Sunday of each month. If you or anyone you know needs help, see Pastor Pam.
· Pray for the country of Haiti as they deal with the aftermath of the huge earthquake that hit January 12. Pray for those who have lost loved ones and those who are injured. Pray for those who have lost their homes and live in fear. Pray for our interpreters, Prosper and Tipoppi, who still have family and friends in Haiti. Pray for the missionaries we worked with, Terry & Carey Nelson at Light Ministries. You can read daily reports from their website at lightministriesinc.org. They have organized a clinic and are working with our military and the local mayor to distribute food and supplies. Pastor Millon has lost his church, house, and school in Leogane. We met him while we were there. Please pray for them as they work to rebuild. God will restore the destruction and make it even better than before! Pray about a possible trip back into Haiti sometime.
· Call the Prayer Line at 676-1500 for prayer 24-hours a day. You can also add your requests to the prayer book by the front of the stage. We pray over the names at every service.
· Stop back at the Tape Ministry to pick up the CD's of all of the services. You can get Christian T-shirts, tote bags, and other items to help you be a Christian witness.
· Pray for our website and those working to improve the quality of the broadcasts. We see this ministry as a vital tool with the ability to reach anywhere in the world. Please let us know when you are watching and if there are any technical problems.
· Our 2010 Mexico Missions Trip will be at the end of July. If you plan on traveling with us, get your passport now and start your "mission fund". Pray for the finances for the church building. The cost of the building materials is about $7,000. Pray for the board of Mexico Missions as they decide where to build this summer. If you know of any other church or group that would like to become involved, see Pastor Bill.
MEN'S TREAT DINNER
It's that time again that all the ladies look forward to. It's time for the men to cook and serve dinner for the ladies. On February 19, all the women of the church are invited to dinner at 7:00 p.m. There will be plenty of good food and entertainment. All the ladies need to sign up in the tape ministry so the men will know how much food to prepare. All the men need to see Pastor Bill so they can plan the evening. "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of
our God. They will still bear fruit in
old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, 'The Lord is upright; He
is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him'." Psalms 92:12-15
